23 Tables, 2022

Interactive installation

The '23 Tables' project invites the 30,000 walkers of the Airborne walking route to rest at a picnic table. There is one condition: you can only sit at the picnic table that you belong to. With the shorts, the mustaches or, for example, the yellow jackets. The project raises questions about where people draw the line when it comes to discrimination. Do I mind being discriminated because of my coat color? Is forming groups of like-minded people an inevitable part of life, or is it wrong at all times?

The Airborne walking tour is organized every year to commemorate the Airborne operation during the Second World War. The Scarabee Foundation develops two art projects along the route to make walkers think about the concept of freedom in a new way.
